CCTV and alarm installers in Tunbridge Wells
Substantial period property, a good deal of it set back from the road behind its own approach, which usually makes the driveway as much part of the job as the house.

The approach matters as much as the building
Tunbridge Wells has an unusual concentration of large period houses, many of them set well back from the road with their own driveways and mature planting. That planting is the part people forget. A camera positioned perfectly in February can be looking at a hedge by June.
It also shifts where the system should start. On a property with a long approach, the doors and windows are the last line rather than the first, and a system that only covers them is telling you about somebody who has already arrived. Covering the entrance and the drive gives you the thing that actually helps, which is knowing earlier.
Period property, discreetly done
Much of the housing here is Victorian or older, often in conservation areas, and owners are generally not looking for equipment that announces itself from the road. That is a siting and specification problem rather than a compromise on capability.
Cameras chosen to read small and dark against brick or render, runs kept off principal elevations, and control equipment somewhere sensible rather than in the hall. It takes longer at the survey and it is the difference between an installation you notice and one you do not.
Gates and perimeter
Gate automation comes up more here than in most of the towns we cover, for the obvious reason that more properties have gates. It is also the area where installations most often fall short of what the law requires.
A powered gate is machinery under the Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008, and BS EN 12453 sets out how it must behave, with force limits of 400 newtons for crushing and 1400 for impact. In practice that means photocells, safety edges and a documented risk assessment, not a motor and a remote. If a gate has had its safety devices disconnected because they were nuisance-tripping, we will say so rather than working around it.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Do you cover the villages around Tunbridge Wells?
Yes, along with Southborough, Pembury and the surrounding area. Rural and semi-rural properties change the design: less ambient light, outbuildings that need covering separately, and longer approaches. All straightforward, all better decided by looking at the property than by describing it.
Can you cover a long driveway?
Yes, and on this kind of property it is usually the more useful half of the system. That normally means a camera at or near the entrance and coverage along the approach, so an arrival is seen before it reaches the house. Where running cable across a drive is impractical, a wireless link does the job instead.
Will the equipment be visible from the road?
Only as much as you want. There is an argument for something visible at the entrance, because deterrence is worth having, and an argument for everything else being discreet. Most properties end up with a mix. On a period or conservation-area building we plan positions and runs with you before anything is fixed.
Do you install and service electric gates?
Yes, both, and there are more gated properties here than in most places we cover. A fair proportion of the systems we are called to were installed without the safety devices the standards require. Where we find photocells disconnected or force limits never set, we will tell you plainly, because that is the part that matters around children and animals.
How far is Tunbridge Wells from you?
Around forty minutes from our unit at Aylesford. Comfortably within range for installation and, more importantly, for coming back to service the system later, which is the test of whether an installer really covers an area.
